What is Brown Box Veggies AND How to Participate:
We make it easy for families to purchase seasonal and local produce by gathering different fruits and veggies for packing in our brown boxes. This is a super easy and affordable way to have a healthy and whole fruit menu in your home.
How does Brown Box Veggies (a/k/a BBV) work?
All boxes are pre-ordered online, and the fresh produce is sourced from as many local farmers ad we can and then sorted into our brown boxes for pick up on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at your favorite place, Seven Oaks Plant Shop. The boxes are packed with 3-4 different varieties of fruits and 7-8 different varieties of vegetables and is enough for a family of four. Brown Box Veggies has built close relationships with farmers since 2010 and we love supporting South Carolina farmers. We also have close relationships with vendors out at the SC State Farmers Market for items we cannot find locally or that are just not grown in SC. We do limit the amount of boxes available and we pack for the first 48 families that order online. All orders must be placed by NOON the Thursday before pick-up (remember, Brown Box Veggies is only scheduled on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month) and we have the perfect one-size box to order. The cost is $42. There are NO membership fees and no participation requirements so order when you want!
Your family’s boxes will be ready for pick-up between 9 AM and 11 AM on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at a designated area within the plant shop. We promise it will be easy to find! We will also have a Veggie Gal or Veggie Guy to check your name is on the list and help you to your car if needed. PLEASE KNOW any boxes not picked up by 11 AM will be donated. This has always been a strict policy of BBV to protect the integrity of the produce.
