About Seven Oaks Plant Shop
2024 rings in a new year and new owners to Seven Oaks Plant Shop. Karen Hedgepath, Holli Miller and Heather Hardy have promised to continue the legacy of sharing the most beautiful plants with the community, just like Doug and Janice Hull have over the past 46+ years. With the promise to continue their legacy, all three are excited about this new adventure and greeting the customers the Hulls have loved for so many years.

How it all started
In March of 1978 Doug and Jan Hull opened Seven Oaks Farm Fresh Market on a 1/3 acre of land in a pole building just off of St. Andrews Road in Columbia. To spruce up the place Jan bought hanging baskets from the local K-mart. The customers admired the hanging baskets so much that Jan put price tags on them and sold them all. “Thus the beginning of our plant business.”
By 1988, plant sales far outweighed the produce sales and by 1994 they dropped the produce completely to concentrate more on the plants. They would build their green houses over time and Doug always kept them full with amazing variety. As the plant business grew so did their knowledge. They both took classes at a local college and courses offered through garden clubs.
Doug and Jan have worked hard over the years to make Seven Oaks Plant Shop a success and a gem to the community! Doug plans to continue with Seven Oaks Plants on a consulting basis and Jan is devoting her time to her greenhouses.
